Ensure your Samora Studio jewelry can be worn and loved for generations with proper care and cleaning. Regularly wiping down jewelry with a cotton cloth after wear is good practice for any of our pieces. Also, be mindful of storing and traveling with jewelry, as this is a common way pieces get scratched or damaged. Click on the specific materials below to view further care suggestions.
18k Gold – Dilute dish detergent in a small bowl of warm water and soak jewelry for several minutes. Remove and rinse thoroughly. Dry with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.
Sterling Silver – Regular wear is the best defense against tarnishing. When not wearing your pieces, clean them with a cotton cloth soaked in diluted dish detergent, using mild pressure applied in one direction. Avoid circular motions. For more thorough cleaning, an authorized jeweler is your best option.
Oxidized Silver – Follow the same care suggestions as with Sterling Silver. Additionally, avoid silver polish or dip-style cleaning solutions, as these will remove the unique look of oxidation we apply to the jewelry. An authorized jeweler will also be able to clean and restore these pieces.
Mixed Metal – For light cleaning, soak pieces in diluted dish detergent for several minutes, rinse well, and dry with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. For deeper cleaning, contact us or an authorized jeweler.
Diamonds + Gems – Avoid chlorine, household cleaning products, extreme light or heat, salt water, and wearing jewelry while doing manual labor or activities that may be harmful to your jewelry. Clean using dishwashing soap and water. Rubies and emeralds should only be cleaned using a dry cotton cloth, as they are more fragile. A very soft brush may also be used to clean the uneven surface of drusies.
Pearls + Opals – Avoid contact with strong chemicals, perfumes, cosmetics, and perspiration. Wash with mild soap and a soft cloth. Rinse well and wrap pearl settings in a thin, damp cotton towel to dry. Pearls and opals need humidity. Avoid excessively dry environments, as this can cause cracking.
Turquoise – Refer to care suggestions for 18k Gold.
